We had two chickens for a while when I was in my early teens, in rural Rutland, England. Their names were Bridget and Mabel. Since keeping chooks, I’ve always had a fondness for them; their kooky personalities, their aloof business, their content clucking. I tried to capture many of the difference traits in this painting. If you’ve ever owned chickens, I’m sure you’ll see yours here.
